The Yorkshire Environmental Sciences Doctoral Training Network (YES•DTN) is funded through a BBSRC-NERC Doctoral Landscape Award (DLA). We will recruit up to 26 fully funded PhD candidates per year.
YES•DTN is a collaboration of 4 academic schools at the University of Leeds and the Wolfson Atmospheric Chemistry Laboratories at the University of York. We offer associate memberships both at the University of York and the University of Leeds. YES•DTN therefore covers the full scope of environmental science research facing the UK Natural Environment Research Council (NERC).
We offer pre-defined PhD projects which can be hosted either wholly in one of our contributing departments, or is multi-disciplinary across school, faculty and university boundaries. We collaborate with a large range of partners from industry, government and charities. Partners are involved with the project throughout and offer additional opportunities to the postgraduate researcher (PGR). Many of our projects are Collaborative Awards in Science and Engineering (CASE) with considerable industry engagement, including placement opportunities.
YES•DTN offers a wide range of transferable skills training throughout the PhD program. Our PGRs work in an inspiring research environment with experts in the field from two of the leading research intensive universities in environmental research.
More information about our training approach can be found on our training pages.
