Kirsty Firth

Biography:

I am a NERC funded post graduate researcher working within the Institute of Climate and Atmospheric Science with the School of Earth and Environment at the University of Leeds. I am working with Professor Dominick Spracklen and Professor Maria Beger looking at quantifying the impact of tropical deforestation on coral reefs to support coordinated tropical forest and marine conservation.

Prior to starting at Leeds, I worked as a research technician/specialist within the Centre for Resilience in Environment, Water and Waste at the University of Exeter. I was looking at how to use and utilise multispectral drone imagery to assess water extent in areas that had undergone natural flood management. As well as this I was working with NGOs based in Australia and Fiji on community lead coral restoration programmes throughout the Pacific.

In my own time I enjoy being outdoors hiking, surfing or swimming and attempt to make my own clothes as well.
