Biography:
I am a postgraduate researcher at the University of Leeds, working with Professor John Plane to investigate and model the impacts of ablating spacecraft in the middle atmosphere. In 2023, I completed an Integrated Masters in Astrophysics at the University of Birmingham. From 2023 to 2025, I worked at the European Space Agency’s Space Debris Office in Darmstadt, Germany, focusing on satellite re-entry simulation and operations, and developing software to model in-orbit explosions for long-term environment simulation. My PhD research aims to address some key questions about how current space debris mitigation policies – focused on swift re-entry after end-of-operations and maximising spacecraft demise – affect our atmosphere and planet, from potential ozone depletion to radiative effects.
Outside of research, I am a ceramicist, and enjoy spending time in nature, cloudspotting, cooking, yoga, and making art.
