Biography:
I am a meteorologist with a passion for interdisciplinary research and the application of climate science to address real-world challenges. For over eight years, I worked at the National Meteorological and Hydrological Service of Peru, where I provided climate services to a diverse range of stakeholders, supporting climate risk management across my home country. I also had the opportunity to participate in several projects in both the Peruvian Andes and the Amazon, fostering collaboration among scientists, policymakers, and local communities. In the past three years, I have also served as a consultant, focusing on climate risk assessment for dams, protected natural areas, and small rural communities in Peru.
My PhD project explores the value of regional decadal climate predictions for adaptation planning. I consider this research to be a pioneering effort that can act as a pilot project, demonstrating both the potential benefits and limitations of decadal predictions in decision-making processes. In addition to advancing scientific understanding, I aspire for this work to provide valuable insights and best practices for various sectors and regions, particularly in vulnerable areas.
Outside of work, I enjoy dancing, hiking in nature, and traveling to discover new places and cultures.
