Structured CV

We will ask you to provide some information on your previous education, experiences and skills through a web form. We will not need you to upload a formatted academic CV and we cannot consider CVs sent via email. The information we are requesting is summarised below:

Education   

  • First degree and Masters (if applicable) 
  • Overall classification for all previous degrees 
  • Dissertation title(s) and grade (if applicable)
  • Further details about any courses you have taken which demonstrate a wider subject knowledge relevant for the project 

Experience (Research)   

  • We appreciate that not all applicants will have had opportunity to conduct research as part of their studies. If you are including this section, please give full details on previous research experience as part of your degree or outside (employment/internships/placements), highlighting the skills and experiences you feel will be relevant to your chosen PhD project.
  • Peer-reviewed publications and presentations are not required to apply to YES•DTN, but if you will be able to list them on the form. 

Experience (Employment) 

  • If you have previous employment experience, relevant to the project you are applying for, there is a section on the form for you to provide further details. 

Additional experience   

In this section you can list any experiences that provide some context for experiences outside of your previous degrees or employment history and are not listed elsewhere but that demonstrate your suitability to PhD study 

Interests / other activities   

If you are including this section, you can list: 

  • Positions of responsibility that demonstrate skills relevant for PhD that are not listed elsewhere 
  • Hobbies and interests that say a bit about you, but only very brief details 

Special Consideration 

Please list any mitigating circumstances that we might want to take into consideration, e.g.  

  • mitigating circumstances why your degree results do not represent your full potential  
  • adverse conditions you had to overcome during your first degrees or in employment
